Metro Silver Line / Rideshare

Dulles is ~26 mi west of D.C., so allow time for traffic. The Metro Silver Line now serves the airport (station by Garage 1, a short indoor-tunnel walk from the terminal) — ~50 min to downtown D.C. and the best value. For door-to-door, use Uber, Lyft, or ALTO (pick up at the “3rd curb”/ground-transport level via Doors 2, 4, or 6, zones 3A–3H) or a Washington Flyer taxi (the only airport cab — Door 1 or Door 7, lower level). Taxi

Washington Flyer is the only cab company allowed to pick up at Dulles — lower level, down the ramp to Door 1 or Door 7, 24/7 metered. Other cab companies can only drop off. A taxi to downtown D.C. is pricey given the ~26 mi distance.

Shuttle

Hotel shuttles and Airports-Authority-authorized sedan/limo services depart from the ground-transport level (reserve ahead). The Silver Line Express bus runs to Wiehle–Reston East Metro.
