Tokyo Haneda Airport

Tokyo, Japan

Where to start
Keikyu Airport Line / Tokyo Monorail

Haneda is close to central Tokyo, so every option is good. The Keikyu Airport Line (about 18 min to Shinagawa) and the Tokyo Monorail (about 22 min to Hamamatsucho) are the fastest and lowest-cost, both connecting to the JR Yamanote Line. The Airport Limousine Bus is best with heavy luggage. Taxis and app-taxis (GO, Uber) are far more reasonable here than from Narita — but note trains stop around midnight.

Ride Options

Keikyu Airport Line

transit

Fastest connection to Shinagawa, then direct JR or Metro access

AvailabilityFrequent — roughly every 10 min daytime; stops around midnight
Pickup NoteFollow 'Keikyu Line' signs to the connecting walkway and down to the station. Express trains reach Shinagawa in about 18 min — connect to the JR Yamanote Line, JR Tokaido, or Shinkansen. Some trains continue toward Asakusa via the subway. Check the board — 'Express' trains are faster than all-stops.

Pickup Guidance

Rideshare

App-based taxis (GO and Uber) are available at Haneda — both dispatch licensed metered taxis from the rank on 1F (arrivals level). Far more practical here than at Narita thanks to the short distance to central Tokyo, but still pricier than the train.

Taxi

Licensed metered taxi ranks are on 1F (arrivals level) outside the terminal. Reliable, safe, and spotlessly clean — and far more reasonable than from Narita thanks to the short distance. A night surcharge (about 20%) applies midnight–05:00; highway tolls are extra.

Shuttle

The Airport Limousine Bus stop is on 1F outside the arrivals exit, with routes to Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ikebukuro, Yokohama, and many major hotels. Buy tickets at the counter inside the terminal near the exit — ideal with heavy luggage.

Transit

Both the Tokyo Monorail and Keikyu Airport Line stations are reached via an indoor walkway from the terminal — follow the clearly posted signs. Note both lines stop around midnight and restart about 05:00.

Private Transfer

Pre-booked private transfers and SIXT Ride meet you at arrivals with a name sign — a fixed-price, no-meter option, handy late at night.

Local Tips

  • Japan has virtually no tipping culture — pay the meter exactly; don't tip taxi drivers, hotel staff, or restaurant servers.
  • Haneda → Narita: the Airport Limousine Bus runs direct between the two airports — useful for transit passengers.
  • The Tokyo Monorail reaches Hamamatsucho (JR Yamanote Line) in about 13 minutes; tap in with a Suica/Pasmo IC card for a small saving over a paper ticket.
  • The Keikyu Airport Line reaches Shinagawa in about 18 minutes and connects to JR for onward travel — 'Express' trains are faster than all-stops.
  • Both rail lines stop around midnight and restart about 05:00 — for late-night arrivals, use an app-taxi (GO/Uber), the taxi rank, or a late-night bus.

Tarmyq local tip

Buy a Suica or Pasmo IC card at the station before you ride — it works on the monorail, the Keikyu line, every Tokyo train and bus, and convenience stores, so you never have to queue for tickets again.
