⚠️ Public buses at TPA do not depart from the Main Terminal — take the free SkyConnect train to the Rental Car Center, where HART and PSTA services stop. And check your ride-app side: pickup is at the Red Express Curbside, Blue Express Curbside or SkyCenter One, and Red and Blue are opposite ends of the building.
Tampa International Airport
Tampa, United States
All arrivals come through the Main Terminal, and rideshare and taxis pick up from the ground transportation areas there. If you want the public bus, you first take the free SkyConnect people mover to the Rental Car Center — HART Route 30 to downtown departs from there, not from the terminal.

Pickup Guidance
Rideshare
Red Express Curbside, Blue Express Curbside, or the remote SkyCenter One curbside. Uber, Lyft and Wridz operate at TPA. Which side you use depends on your airline — check the app and the signs before walking. If you end up on the wrong side, both Red and Blue enter the same Main Terminal, so you can walk across the building rather than going back outside. An airport fee applies to ride-app trips.
Taxi
Curbside outside baggage claim at Ground Transportation Areas Red 1 and Blue 2. Tampa taxis operate a fixed fare to downtown and the cruise port, and a minimum charge applies to all airport trips.
Shuttle
Off-site parking and hotel shuttles collect at the Main Terminal curbside. The free SkyConnect automated train connects the Main Terminal to the Economy Garage and the Rental Car Center, every two minutes, 24 hours a day, in under five minutes.
Transit
HART Route 30 departs from the Rental Car Facility, not the terminal — take SkyConnect first. PSTA services for Pinellas County (St. Petersburg, Clearwater) also stop at the Rental Car Center. It runs to Marion Transit Center in downtown Tampa, roughly every 30 minutes, weekdays from early morning to midnight and weekends from mid-morning to midnight.
Private Transfer
Pre-booked cars and meet-and-greet drivers use the Main Terminal ground transportation level. Because TPA has a single terminal, there's no terminal ambiguity to confirm — unusual among US airports this size.

Local Tips
- SkyConnect is a driverless train, not a shuttle bus — there's no waiting for a driver and it runs through the night.
- Cruise passengers: the taxi fixed fare covers the port as well as downtown, which removes the guesswork on a route where traffic varies a lot.
- Airside D construction is ongoing through 2026 but does not affect ground transportation or garage access.
- TPA's single-terminal design means you never have to identify a terminal for a pickup — rare for an airport this size, and worth telling whoever is collecting you.
- FIFA World Cup 2026 traffic is expected to raise volumes through Tampa across the tournament window; allow extra time on match days.
Tarmyq local tip
The SkyConnect step is the whole trick at TPA. Everything unfamiliar — rental cars, economy parking, the city bus — lives at the far end of a two-minute train ride that most people don't realise they need to take.
