Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport

San Jose, United States

Where to start
Rideshare from the Terminal A/B ground-transport island / VTA Route 60 Airport Flyer

Two terminals (A and B), linked by a free shuttle every 7–10 minutes. Rideshare picks up at the ground-transport island — **Terminal A Stop 1, Terminal B Stops 8–10** (apps are assigned specific stops; Waymo has its own). Taxis are at Terminal A Stop 2 and Terminal B Stop 1. The **VTA Route 60 Airport Flyer** (free at the airport) connects to Milpitas BART and Santa Clara Caltrain — there's no direct rail to the terminals.

Pickup Guidance

Rideshare

Ground-transport island at each terminal, with app-specific stops: Terminal A — Stop 1 (Uber, Lyft, Tesla, Wingz), Stop 9 (Waymo). Terminal B — Stops 8 (Tesla, Uber), 9 (Uber), 10 (Lyft, Wingz), 7 (Waymo, at the Rental Car Center). Follow the app to your assigned stop. Drop-offs are at the departures curbs.

Taxi

Terminal A Stop 2, Terminal B Stop 1, on-demand at the ground-transport island.

Shuttle

A free inter-terminal / Rental Car Center shuttle runs every 7–10 minutes, 24 hours, stopping at each terminal and the RCC. Scheduled coaches use Terminal A Stop 4 and Terminal B Stop 10; hotel shuttles use the Ground Transportation Center.

Transit

VTA Route 60 (Airport Flyer) connects Terminal A (Stop 7) and Terminal B (Stop 5) to Milpitas BART and Winchester stations; use it to reach Santa Clara Caltrain for trains up the Peninsula to San Francisco, and for ACE and Amtrak connections. Free at the airport, small charge toward the airport.

Private Transfer

Pre-booked cars meet at baggage claim or the ground-transport island; confirm the terminal, since A and B are separate.

Local Tips

  • The airport bus is **Route 60 (Airport Flyer)** now — not "Route 10" as older sources say. It's free at the airport and links to BART and Caltrain.
  • Rideshare stops are app-specific — Uber, Lyft, Tesla and Waymo each have assigned stop numbers, so follow the app rather than the first island you reach.
  • The VTA light rail stops near SJC but doesn't reach the terminals directly, and only serves downtown San Jose — it doesn't reach the big tech campuses (Apple, Google, Meta, Nvidia).
  • The two terminals aren't walkable between departures — use the free 24-hour inter-terminal shuttle (every 7–10 minutes).
  • Waymo autonomous vehicles operate at SJC with their own stops (Terminal A Stop 9, Terminal B Stop 7) — a genuine option in this market.

Tarmyq local tip

SJC assigns rideshare stops by app — check whether your app says Stop 1, 8, 9 or 10 before walking. And if you're heading deeper into the Bay Area, the free Route 60 Airport Flyer to Milpitas BART or Santa Clara Caltrain is the transit key, since no train reaches the terminals themselves.
