S-Bahn / ICE Train

S-Bahn lines S8 and S9 run from directly underneath Terminal 1 to Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof in 12 minutes, every 15 minutes. If you're heading to another German city (Cologne, Munich, Berlin), board long-distance ICE/IC trains from the separate Fernbahnhof. Taxis are available 24/7 at all three terminals and the long-distance train station.

Uber, FREE NOW, and Bolt all operate, picking up at designated zones at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 — follow the in-app pin. Frankfurt has fewer rideshare restrictions than some German cities.

Taxi

Cream-colored taxis queue at the ranks outside arrivals — available around the clock at all three terminals and the long-distance train station. Metered fares with no airport surcharge; cards accepted, though cash is sometimes preferred.

Shuttle

On-airport hotels (Hilton, Sheraton, Steigenberger) and other Frankfurt-area hotels run shuttles from outside the terminals — handy for early-morning departures.

Transit

FRA has two separate stations: the Regionalbahnhof (S-Bahn S8/S9 to Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof in ~12 min, every ~15 min) closer to Terminal 1, and the Fernbahnhof for long-distance ICE/IC trains to Cologne, Munich, Berlin and beyond. From Terminal 2, take the free SkyLine train to T1 first. Buy a ticket before boarding (DB Navigator app or machines) — tap-to-pay is not accepted on the S-Bahn.
