Go downstairs to Level 1 for the official public metered taxi kiosk, or to Level 1, Gate 4 for the designated 24-hour Grab pickup point. Rideshare

Grab is dominant in Thailand, with an officially designated pickup point at Passenger Terminal Level 1, Gate 4 (operating 24 hours). GrabTaxi, GrabCar, and JustGrab all use that point. Download Grab before landing for a fixed in-app fare. Bolt also operates and can be more affordable off-peak; verify its pickup point in-app.

Taxi

Use ONLY the official public metered taxi kiosk on Level 1 (one floor below arrivals). Approach the 'TAXI – METER ONLY' kiosk — you'll get a printed slip with the driver's plate number; keep it. Drivers who solicit you on Level 2 (arrivals) routinely refuse the meter and quote inflated flat fares. The expressway toll is paid by the passenger on top of the metered fare.

Shuttle

No public airport shuttle. Some near-airport hotels run private shuttles — enquire directly. Shared minivans exist but aren't recommended over the rail link or a metered taxi.

Transit

Airport Rail Link (City Line) departs from the basement (B level) inside the terminal, running roughly 06:00–midnight every 10–15 minutes. It reaches Phaya Thai (BTS Skytrain interchange) in about 30 minutes; Makkasan connects to the MRT for Sukhumvit/Silom.

Private Transfer

Pre-booked transfers meet at arrivals with a name sign — popular with first-time visitors precisely because they bypass the meter-refusal scam.

Local Tips

  • Both the official metered taxi kiosk and the Grab pickup point are on Level 1 (downstairs) — anyone offering 'taxi' on the arrivals level (Level 2) will refuse the meter.
  • The official Grab point is downstairs at Level 1, Gate 4 — not where you exit baggage claim.
  • Keep the printed slip from the taxi kiosk — it has the driver's plate number and is your only record.
  • Insist the driver uses the meter; if they quote a flat rate and refuse, politely decline and take the next cab.
  • Expressway tolls are always paid by the passenger on top of the metered fare.
